Dublin Airport

Now, why am I posting about Dublin Airport, when my blog is about Cork Airport. Wellll as you know I am fairly interested in Aviation, so my blog will feature mostly about airlines, but the odd time I will post about another airport. So this is my Dublin Airport post.

Dublin Airport, located 10 km North of Dublin, in Swords, County Fingal, is the Republic of Ireland's busiest airport. 19, 090, 954 passengers passed through the airport in 2012, ranking 1 on the whole island of Ireland. Aer Lingus, Aer Lingus Regional, Air Contractors, CityJet, Ryanair & Thomson Airways all have aircraft based at the airport.

Dublin Airport has an extensive long haul network. Airlines such as, Aer Lingus, Air Canada, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, & US Airways all operate Transatlantic Services. Etihad Airways & Emirates operate to Abu Dhabi & Dubai.

Dublin Airport is only 1 of 2 airports in the EU with full US Preclearance, this is done before departure, saving time on arrival. The other airport in the EU that has this facility is Shannon.

DAA, Dublin Airport Authority, formally, Aer Rianta, controls Cork & Dublin Airports.

Dublin Airport has 3 terminals, but only 2 are being used. The Old Terminal is very unique, it was bulit in 1940. Terminal 1 opened in 1972 and Terminal 2 opened in 2010.
